Our Story

Electric Gate Repair Service was founded by Karlis Elmanis, who has been working with electric gates for over 15 years.
It started with years of hands-on experience across Sussex and Surrey — swing gates, sliding gates, underground motors, intercoms, access control. After working on hundreds of residential and commercial gate systems and seeing every type of fault, bodged installation, and neglected motor you can imagine, the decision was clear: homeowners across the South East deserved a straightforward, honest repair and servicing option from people who actually know what they're doing.
That's why Electric Gate Repair Service exists — and that commitment to quality hasn't changed as we've grown.
Experienced Engineers, Every Visit
When you book with us, you get a dedicated, experienced engineer — not a subcontractor, not an apprentice, not whoever happens to be available that day. Our engineers carry out every inspection, every repair, and every service visit personally.
That means we get to know your gate. We know the motor, the wiring, the quirks. When we come back for the annual service, we already know what to look for because we were there last time.
Our Engineers
All our engineers are Gate Safe trained, carry £2 million public liability insurance, and have extensive hands-on experience with CAME, BFT, Nice, FAAC, DEA, and Beninca systems.
We're expanding our service area with every new engineer who joins the team.

What We Won't Do
We don't take on schools or large commercial sliding gate projects — the paperwork and compliance requirements for those are a full-time job in themselves, and we'd rather focus on doing residential and small commercial work properly.
We only install one intercom system: the Videx GSM keypad. It's the system we'd put on our own gates. We don't offer a confusing menu of 15 different brands — we install the one we trust.
Where We Work
We're based in Horsham, West Sussex (RH13) and cover a 1.5-hour radius. That includes most of West Sussex, East Sussex, Surrey, Kent, and parts of South London.
We organise our schedule by area so you get a faster visit. When you book online, the system shows you the days we're already near you — pick one of those and you'll typically hear from us within a day or two.
The No-Contract Approach
We don't do maintenance contracts. No annual fees, no monthly direct debits, no lock-in. We'll send you a reminder when your gate service is due — typically at 11 months — and you book when it suits you.
If you don't want to service your gate this year, that's your call. We won't chase you. But if the motor burns out because it wasn't serviced, we'll be there to fix it — and we won't say we told you so.
