Emergency same-day callouts are £270+VAT (£324 including VAT). This is available 7 days a week, including evenings. If we're already in your area, your engineer can often attend within hours.

Can I get a service added to a repair visit?

Yes. If you book a repair and want a full service done at the same time, your engineer can add it for £125+VAT extra (adding approximately 90 minutes to the visit). This is often the best value — you save a separate callout fee.

Weekday repairs and servicing are £225+VAT. Saturday visits are £270+VAT, Sunday visits are £337+VAT. After 6pm on weekdays is £270+VAT. Emergency callouts start at £270+VAT. All prices are confirmed on screen before you book — no surprises.

Yes. All prices quoted are plus VAT at the standard rate (currently 20%). The total including VAT is always confirmed before you book.

How do I pay?

Cash on site or BACS bank transfer on completion. Card payments are not currently accepted. The total amount including VAT is confirmed at the time of booking, and any additional costs for parts are agreed before work begins.

The primary focus is repairs, servicing, and maintenance. Gate automation (motorising an existing manual gate) is available — survey from £195+VAT, free if booked alongside a repair or service. For brand new gate fabrication and installation, we can advise and refer.

What intercom systems do you install?

We install the Videx GSM keypad system — a reliable, proven system with app control and keypad entry. It's the system our engineers trust and install on their own gates. The cost is £1,250+VAT for supply and installation, plus £10+VAT per month for the SIM.

Do weekday bookings get confirmed immediately?

Standard weekday bookings are auto-confirmed. Weekend, evening, and emergency bookings are confirmed or declined within the confirmation window shown when you book — or automatically cancelled if we can't make it. You can cancel while waiting for confirmation at any time.

What information do I need to provide when booking?

Your name, address, phone number, email, postcode, gate type (swing/sliding/barrier), motor brand if known, and a brief description of the issue. You'll also be asked for property entry codes so your engineer can access the gate even if you're not home.

Do I need to be home?

Not necessarily. If you provide entry codes or gate access details when booking, your engineer can carry out the work while you're out. You'll receive a written report and, where relevant, photos of the work done.

What's the cancellation policy?

There's no cancellation fee. Since you provide entry codes at booking, your engineer can still attend and carry out the work even if your plans change. If you need to reschedule, call or text and we'll move you to another slot.

We organise our schedule by location. If we're already working near you on a particular day, that day will be highlighted — pick it and you'll get a faster visit.

What counts as an emergency?

An emergency is when your gate is stuck and you can't get in or out of your property, when the gate is creating a security risk, or when it's blocking a shared access. If in doubt, call 07542 024681 and we'll advise whether it needs an emergency visit or can wait for a standard booking.

What should I check before calling?

Before calling for an emergency repair, check three things: 1. **Photocell sensors:** Do they have a light? Does the light change when you wave your hand in front? 2. **Motors:** Are both motors making a sound, or just one? Or neither? 3. **Controls:** Do any of your remotes, keypads, or push-buttons get a response from the gate? This information helps your engineer diagnose the problem faster and bring the right parts.

Can I manually open my gate while I wait?

Most electric gates have a manual release. On CAME and BFT motors, there's usually a key or lever that disengages the motor so you can push the gate open by hand. Check your gate manual or call us — we can often talk you through it over the phone.

Yes. Our engineers carry £2 million public liability insurance for every job. Proof of insurance is available on request.

Gate Safe is a charity that promotes gate safety in the UK. Gate Safe trained means our engineers have completed training on the safe installation, maintenance, and repair of automated gate systems, including knowledge of relevant UK safety standards and regulations.

Do you offer guarantees?

All repair work is guaranteed. If a repair we've carried out fails within a reasonable period, your engineer will return to fix it at no additional labour cost. Parts carry their manufacturer's warranty.
